Sean Flinn & The Royal We, Alameda, Quiet Life - 8PM

1001 SE Morrison
Portland Oregon 97201
US (503) 239-7639 [map]
Price: $5

SEAN FLINN & THE ROYAL WE
"A staple player in the Portland music scene, Sean Flinn has taken the reigns of his own musical stagecoach and is making the rounds in our fair city. Who travels in the carriage is dependent on the evening; Flinn steers, and he's often joined by the Royal We, a rotating cast of talented and recognizable characters, all well-versed in the body of music Flinn has created and eager to assimilate. And while Write Me a Novel, the forthcoming long-player, is often pensive and haunted by humming spirits, or shaded with dark, heavy-handed guitar riffs, there is an undeniable tenderness that runs throughout and empties into all of those who might happen upon this band's performance."- Raquel Nasser, Portland Mercury

ALAMEDA
"Alameda's luminous, spare melodies suggest solitude without loneliness and the peace of fruitful introspection. Like the work of early Low, the latest songs from Alameda are soothing yet haunting and possessed of a delicate immediacy." - Thomas Murphy, Denver Westword

QUIET LIFE
"Near-flawless renditions of classic L.A. Canyon rock...loose, affectionate playing, and each song registers catchy, rust belt elements. You soak in this like a whiskey at quitting time." - Jack Rabid, The Big Takeover

Price: Adult: $16, Student/Senior: $12

Lincoln High School Theater Department's Amateur Production of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR: It seems especially fitting that the first rock opera, created as a concept album at the end of the turbulent '60s, should have at its center a social and political rebel. Jesus' meteor-like rise in renown provides, as the title suggests, a parallel to contemporary celebrity worship. As his radical teachings are evermore embraced, Judas increasingly questions the enlightened motives of this new prophet, resulting in betrayal. Christ's final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge and explosive theatricality. Propelled by a stirring score, by turns driving and majestic, satirical and tender, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with a passion that goes straight to the heart.

Performances:

7:30 pm: April 29 and 30, May 1, 6, 7, and 8
1:30 pm May 2 and 8

JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is sponsored by the Leonard Family.
The 2009-2010 Season is sponsored by The Lincoln High School PTA.
